More on this encoder stuff. If you have the same resolution as I have on my PC you should be able to see that there is a plastic
ruler mounted to the gold profile. That is the "encoder strip" and has lines printed on it at a rate of 360 per inch. In my setup, this strip moves with the table. The cables are attached to the encoder which in turn senses
and reads off any movement of the strip, it is "quadrature" enabled which means it can electronically quadruple the resolution of the strip, so we measure movements down to a resolution of 1440 lines per inch, less than
.02 millimeters or less than 7/10000 of an inch. Fine by my standards. And abilities.
