| To help a fellow human |
|
..is hard. Even just to help your neighbor who you are living close to can be very hard. To help other humans, that live long distances away on the other side of the earth and who we know absolutely nothing about is very hard. We do not share their values, we do not even know what their values are, and we have no idea how they will receive our "help". Maybe they do not want it. Maybe it will create more harm than good. Maybe our whole concept of helping and aiding others is wrong? The practical difficulties with transferring are also gigantic. One can line up a thousand reasons, as the laid back western citizen, to do nothing and to continue sleeping in front of the television. But the sleeping in front of the telly can not continue. It is becoming more and more obvious, even for the outermost ignorant westerner, that the enormous global imbalance in wealth, health and happiness will soon affect every citizen on earth. If we pursue in the present general world-famous western direction, the goal will be disaster for all of us. Naturally the less well off will suffer first, and worst, but with enough insight into the future it is absolutely definite that no one will be spared the suffering. The Karma International Foundation was set up by a
collectors cars dealer that, since after living half his life and traveling
the world extensively, was not happy with his own impact on the global
situation. |
