BILL GOLDBERG Q&A
with Ross Forman

WHAT WAS THE FEELING THAT NIGHT AT THE GEORGIA DOME?

"I never envisioned myself as a professional wrestler, let alone standing in front of 40,000 fans at the Georgia Dome one-on-one against Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan has done more for the sport than a lot of people collectively. He's a legend. So, to wrestle him is one thing. To beat him is completely different. It's hard to describe that feeling, or the pressure that goes with being the World Champion. I wouldn't say it's daily pressure. I would say it's minute by minute. Then again, no one can put more pressure on me than myself. Sure, it's a lot of pressure being World Champion, but no more pressure than I put on myself."

WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT WINNING THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP?

"I'm shocked, honored, excited, pressured ... that pretty much covers it. First, it was just an honor to be in the ring with (Hollywood) Hulk Hogan. He's done a helluva lot for the business and I fully appreciate everything he's done. But now it's time to build on that win. That match was a learning experience and he taught me a lot just being in there with him.

"I'll tell ya, it was nuts, pandemonium when I won.

"It really takes my breath away to think where I was a year ago, and then to think where I'm at today. As I always say, I just come here do my thing and hope everyone enjoys it. I hope I can be different and, fortunately, it's worked. I'm not going to mess with the success I've had. I'm very fortunate for the success I've had, and hopefully I can do something positive with it."

HOW HAS YOUR LIFE CHANGED SINCE WINNING THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP?

"There's no such thing as going out in public anymore without being mobbed. As long as (the fans) don't really bother me, I enjoy it. I think it's my duty as the World Heavyweight Champion to cater to everyone, but, I will say, it's nuts."

WHAT'S IT LIKE WHEN YOU HEAR THE FANS CHANTING GOLD-BERG?

"Those GOLD-BERG chants, man, they are exhilarating. I hear them and it's like shooting a lightning bolt through me. That really gets me psyched up."

WHO'S NEXT ON THE GOLDBERG HITLIST?

"I'm in the arena every night and I don't, and won't, back down from anyone. I'm a marked man as the World Heavyweight Champion, but was a marked man before, too. There are a lot of people who want to see me fail, but that ain't gonna happen because I have too much pride in myself, in what I do. Sure, I don't want to let down others but, more than that, I don't want to let myself down.

"I just take things one step at a time. Sure, that's a commonly-used cliche, but, in my case, it's very true."

WOULD YOU FACE KEVIN NASH OR THE GIANT?

"I think Kevin Nash is one person who the fans would like to see me go up against. I ain't backing down and I ain't afraid of anyone in this sport, or anyone in another sport, or anyone who walks the face of this earth for that matter. It's going to be a helluva confrontation when Kevin Nash and I meet. There are a lot of people who think he will take control of me and give me my first loss, but I'm here to tell you that that ain't gonna happen.

"As for The Giant, the same goes for him. I've got a lot of respect for him, as I also do for Kevin. His experience, and especially Kevin's experience, will be hard to overcome with my inexperience, but I'm not afraid of him."
