Force Majeure is French for "Superior Force".
In politics this means that a government ends a conflict by sending in troops,
instead of seeking a peaceful solution. It could also mean a catastrophic,
unexpected circumstance which make it impossible to accomplish an agreement
and for which the party that is bound to the treaty therefore not can be blamed (for example a war).

Corresponding meanings in other languages are 'Act of God' (Eng.),
'Vis Major' (Lat.), 'Höhere Gewalt' (Ger.),
'Händelser de av högre hand komma'
or 'händelser utom kontroll' (Swe.).
