The 1953 Dodge was a all new car.They were sold in
3 model series.Begain with the cheapest Kingsway and the
middleserie Meadowbrook and Coronet as the top of the line.
What a heck is a Kingsway?may the reader from US wounder.
Dodge Kingsway and De Soto Diplomat was export models
only and was a Plymouth with Dodge or De Soto grillebar.
This cars were built and sold at least in Canada and Europe.
Kingsway and Meadowbrook have the old dependible
sidevalve six and Coronet have a all new Hemi.
Chrysler get a Hemi 51 and De Soto 52 but Plymouth didnt
get a Hemi in the 50:s.They hade to wait to the 60:s when the
426 came.But Plymouth get their Hy-fire V8 in 1955.
A problem whith the early Hemis is that they have 3 different
castings and allmost nothing is rechangeible betwen Chrysler,
DeSoto and Dodge.Plymouth and Dodge have same casting
on the engineblock but different sizes on the engines.

The 53 Dodge Hemi is a 241CU,in big engine and deliver
140 hp.It have a 2bbl stromberg carburator,double pointer
ignition system and hydraulic lifter system.

This engines size is 230 CU,in and deliver 103 hp.
A 1bbl carburator feed the engine with fuel and it is a Ball&Ball
carburator on all models exept those with Gyro-maticdrive
they have a Stromberg.

It was four different transmissions to choose betven.
Fluid drive,Gyro-maticdrive,overdrive transmision and
standard transmision.

The body get fleet backfenders this year so the car get roomier
inside.It was allso the first year with onepice front window

No big changes this year.New bumpers,grillebar and
chrometrims was all it take to make a 54 Dodge.
It was some changes with the models this year.Kingsway was
remain but Meadowbrook disipear and was replaced by
Coronet and Royal been itroduced as topmodel.
