I was released to the public in the beginning of 1999 and was an instant favorite. The weapon is accually not correct since there should have been a removable carrying handle and a Rail Interface System for it to be called M4a1. Marui has now release a M4a1 with RIS. The over all finnish is great though I think that there is a few part of the gun that almost screams "plastic" when you see and touch them, like the front handle, pistol grip and the stock lever. The adjustable stock has four settings, 760, 800, 820 and 840mm. The stock feels comfortable to use but isnt as comfortable as the FA MAS or H&K G3 because of the width and shape of the stock shoulderpad. My opinion about the front handle is that it's perfectly shaped and very comfortable. The pistolgrip is comfortable, but I think that the grip could be a little bigger and a rubber wrapping would have been a good accessory. The magazines was hard to insert until I've put a tiny amount grease on the sides of the magazine well, and then the magazines smoothly clicked right in. The mini sized battery is placed in the lower part of front handle and is quite easily changed. A mini battery is good for about 1000-1500 shots and that is enough for me, but a spare battery is a always a good idea. A really good thing is that the barrel is a tighter 6.08mm barrel, and not the standard 6.12mm Marui barrel. The better barrel is the reason to why the preformance is the same as M16a2 or similar weapon with a longer barrel. Another thing I have noticed is that the overall noise is much lower than that of the MP5K or FA MAS. Has the hype about all the available accessories to the M4 gone a bit out of control, or is it just me that thinks a weapons shouldn't be packed with so much accessories that the weight of the gun is doubled?
